The Gregory's style manuals are aimed at a fairly basic level of mechanical ability & understanding; they have step by step instructions for most of the stuff that the home spannerman should be fairly competent to attempt; and they recommend you go to a specialist with some tasks, usually those things that you really shouldn't try without guidance & experience, as well as the right tools & skills!
