We inherited a 'Ross' RGMP139 3.75HP petrol lawnmower. It worked for a while and now the pull start is broken. I pulled the top off to see what was wrong and the whole plastic spring assembly is torn to shreds. I'm trying to work out how much it's going to cost to fix.
BUT I can't find anyone who stock the damned thing! I've googled 'ross' and 'lawnmower' and nobody seems to stock them.

The ONLY hit on a lawnmower made by 'Ross' anywhere was on eBay – – and I'm not sure it's the same one (looks the same). I can't even find a website for 'Ross'. We have a Mitre10, True Value Hardware and a Bunnings and they don't list 'Ross' lawnmowers. I'm guessing these were a fly-by-night chinese junk brand that has since vanished from existance. Anyone know where I can get a new pull start for one of these, or know who makes the wretched things so I can look up how to order one online, etc? I am pretty much broke, so it's repair or nothing (or cutting my ¼ acre lawn with lawn edging shears). Thanks for your responses.

I am up to my third attempt to repair where it snapped off as all other lawn mower dealers don't seem to have a compatible part and I agree what you all say about Mitre 10 – Mighty unhelpful! I now have a radiator hose from an old car that fits and some metal ties hopefully this will repair it and all will be good again as the glueing it back together technique doesn't work due to the heat – it explodes off! If this doesn't work looks like I will have to skype a friend in China and get him to find a part for me or buy a new lawn mower.
